Well, my friends and readers, I have finally had enough and just KICKED the clunker, GE washing machine, out to the curb!  I lost my initial investment but after nearly two years of dirty clothes, I really don’t even care.

I had quite a time finding an old technology, agitator washing machine as the Government’s rules and regulations are no longer allowing the manufacture of old technology washing machines.  (Reminds me of big brother, our Government will tell you what is good and you will buy as you have no choices! That is another story.)  You can either get one of the last unsold new old tech washers available or buy it from a private individual who thinks they are upgrading their appliance.  Good luck to you is all I have to say about that.

This video is of the day that the appliance store delivered my old technology washing machine, a Whirlpool.  I was told that all manufacturers will have to comply with new regulations.  At least this one will wash with powdered laundry detergent and not the watered down crap they call HE!  Also, more expensive.  Sorry I digress.

I can’t believe I have heard so little about this on the television networks.  To be honest I did hear a little something a while back before the news shifted to the debates and Iowa caucuses.  It was my understanding back then that this legislation would have to make its way through Congress.  Well, I guess Congress members were to preoccupied with their vacations or maybe the President doesn’t need permission.  I’m not a politician so I don’t know the ins and outs of Congress!

Today I was listening to the radio and couldn’t believe my ears. I checked out what I heard at the theGuardian.uk web site.  From there I saw that the Guardian had gotten this information from John Turley’s blog post.  I even found this information at the Huffington Post.  Where is the outrage from the Civil Liberties Union , they should be raising Cain?  You would think even our local news stations would make some slight mention of this act.

President Obama comes back from his vacation in Hawaii and somewhere along the line he signs this amended act!

I’m very worried about Americans losing their freedoms as this administration applies rules, regulations and acts.  I think all of Washington elites are totally chipping away at our freedoms behind closed doors, on weekends and holidays.  I shouldn’t be worried you say.   I’ve heard the stories from my Mother and my Aunts and Uncles who immigrated here from Germany after WWII and what is going on in this country isn’t feeling too good to me.

Hoping 2012 is a better year than the last two years have been!

Besides selling on-line at Online Auction.com. I do have a personal life.The German Club (G.E.A.S.) that I belong to just celebrated their 40th Anniversary Party. 

My Mother, her Husband, Aunts and Uncles were some of the original founders. Sadly, many are gone now but we do still try to keep up the traditions that they started and we still honor the Charter Members that are still with us.  This event is only held every 5 years so it is quite the occasion.

I’ve decided that there isn’t much when it comes to underwear. And, yes, you could consider this a rant.

Some years ago I was always pleased with a product that I purchased made by Maiden Form.  But things always seem to be changing and they no longer made my cute undies with one hundred percent cotton and due to medical reasons I had to find underwear from another company.  I really needed more than a cotton liner.

You would think this would be an easy task. NOT!

I have wasted a lot of money on briefs, trying to find a product that fits well.  I’m not a rich person and am pretty frugal so I cannot justify buying underwear that sells in department stores to the tune of 7.00 to 10.00 a pair!  I go with the 6 packs.  Now, in the old days if there was a Name Brand company on the package like Hanes, Jockey or even JC Pennies brand Underscore you would assume that there is a certain amount of quality control that these name brand companies would demand.  Even if they are no longer manufactured in the USA.

I am totally disappointed with companies that are touting their glorious names and give us crap!  Briefs are supposed to be briefs not a high rise leg cut.  Side seams are twisted and crooked.  The Jockey, Hanes and Underscores are packaged fine but just wait till you wash them.  Of course, if you wash them you cannot take them back to the place of purchase and complain!  Finding an affordable 100% cotton brief, That Fits Properly, is nearly impossible.  Quality has been lost in this country.

It is a sad day when these big name companies just ride on their laurels and never bother to make the quality of their product a priority!

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I recently retired from my Cosmetology profession. Since I have a lot of things left that only Hairdressers might be interested in having a yard sale would be out of the question.  I probably wouldn’t get to many lookers! So, I am listing lots of things in my online Store at Online Auction.  I’ve already listed lots of hair color and today I listed some specialty permanent wave rods.  They are called Benders and Lazor Loop rods. Even though they are used the rods are still in good condition and I am selling them in two lots.

Yesterday morning I finished decorating my internet store front for a contest that Online Auction.com is sponsoring.  I only bring this up because it took me a little longer than anticipated!

I have learned a little html and Css code over the years, enough to get by so I could make nice selling pages.   What always amazes me is how quickly you can forget simple code when it hasn’t  been used in just a few months.  I guess the old adage holds true, “You don’t use it, you loose it.”

I have used Wella Hair Colors for many year and I just love the quality and ease of use.  Since I am, kinda, old school I have been using Wella Color Charm Classic for many years.  Wella does have newer color lines like Color Perfect, Koleston.  At one point in time they had a great line of  party colors at one time called Blondor Creative.

I used Blondor Creative for an entire year!  Different color each month because I bleached my hair at the time. The icing on the cake that year was turning my head into a poinsettia for the month of December!  The clients loved it, what a hoot!

I have been a hairdresser/cosmetologist for 46 years and recently retired.  I have a bit of stock left over because I couldn’t return the product to the store. Let me begin by saying I have always been an independent voter.  I say this so you know that I don’t have any favorites in the race for President in 2012 as yet.

My first thought when the Herman Cain hoopla hit the fan was “Why isn’t the Media mentioning the Corporate Insurance”? Listening to media outlets is worse than reading an Enquirer (heck the Enquirer has been sued so many times I might even believe them more).  Talk about misleading sensationalism.  I really don’t know if these allegations are warranted or not.  But…

Why would I have an opinion?  

Because I’ve been involved with something similar.  It wasn’t an accusation of sexual misconduct but it certainly involved lawyers and insurance companies.  In a nutshell, when I was working at a hair salon, my client said she had fallen in a small puddle of water that was on the floor.  This was during Xmas holidays so the shop was full and we were enjoying food and festivities.  She had been sitting in a shampoo chair and said when she stood she said she had slipped and fallen in said water!  We found none.

Anyway,  all of us were concerned and we wanted to know if she was all right.  Even though she was cradling her arm and said it only ached a little she refused our offers to call 911 for an ambulance, we offered to drive her to hospital and she wouldn’t even have an aspirin!  My client had come in for a permanent wave and, by golly, she was going to receive her perm today.  At one point she even got belligerent.  

I proceeded with the permanent, which usually takes three hours.  She finally calmed down and even ate and enjoyed the festivities.  We finished the perm and she got into her car and drove herself home.  I know because I called her to make sure she got home safely.  I had bad vibes, none the less, so I made notes of the events on her record.  She had been my client for 8 years.

Two weeks later the owner of the Shop got a letter from a lawyer representing my client who placed a lawsuit against the owner’s insurance for my client’s broken arm!!  The client  just confirmed my suspicion when she called me at home and hinted to me that I should back up her story.  I was livid.  I figured if her arm was broken there might have been some real pain, swelling to her arm, fingers or hands after sitting for a three hour permanent wave!  She left our shop perfectly happy.

Now, the conclusion of this story.  Two years of litigation between the lawyers and the Shop’s insurance company.  Many phone calls to myself and the owner from both sides of the litigation.  The lawyers, in the end, told me that she had changed her story three times and knew she had been lying.  We had not varied our story of the event, ever. (As Judge Judy says:  Its hard to remember a lie but easy to remember the truth.)  

Guess what?  They settled with her!  No matter what the truth!  Just to expensive after two years of paper work.  We, at the Shop, were in total shock.  The only thing that made us feel better was to know she didn’t receive a dime.  No cash.  The insurance company gave the money for her doctor’s appointments (trying to find something wrong) to Medicare!

This story has nothing to do with Herman Cain but I, certainly, can relate to the way these claims of improprieties might have been handled.  Since this story came out, it was refreshing to hear one or two in the media mention the Insurance Settlement quandary.

Could it be that Herman Cain is becoming a threat to the congressional establishment, Republicans and the Democrats alike?  How many more women will come out and claim sexual indiscretions now that the two original ladies have declined to go public?
